left 4 dead 2 sprays

Hi i recently tried uploading some jpeg images as sprays and kept getting an error message *corrupt file* and changed them to vtf files to upload, i found a thread that suggested that any sprays should be placed as follows *steamapps*> *Left 4 dead 2* > *left 4 dead 2*> *materials*> *vgui*> *logo's*. I added them all to the *custom* folder and the *UI* folder and in the *logo* folder. But their not accessible via the game *Options*>*mulitiplayer* menu, basically theyre not visible.
Can anyone help please?
